Peaceful Waters, John 14:27

Good morning and I pray that your Sunday is blessed with resting in the Lord. Today's Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge focuses on John 14:27, which reads, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let is be afraid." I'm not a glam kind of card person too much, but did glam this one up using various techniques. I've also never highlighted words in my sentiment either, but I did this with this card. Look at the words I highlighted: peace, peace, heart, and troubled. I didn't highlight these words for aesthetic purposes, obviously, but to make you think. Jesus is telling us about the peace he leaves with us and peace that he gives us, which can only be found through him in our hearts. Our heart can be at peace or it can be troubled, but the two can't coexist together within because they are completely contradictory. There is no middle ground. Do you have peace in your heart or is it troubled? Mine is completely troubled. I have no rest or downtime because I'm too busy and I'm busy all the time. Something always comes up. I know that the only way I'm going to get peace is from the Lord, I need to ask him for it (Matthew 11:28-30), and spend more time in his Word and let him minister to my heart. The answer is so easy to be at peace yet we ignore it because the dishes need washed, laundry needs to be done, design team work, the list goes on. All of that can wait and sometimes you just need to go to your prayer closet and set everything aside and spend some time alone with Jesus. We are commanded to do that out of love for him and because of our love for him, we are obedient to his commandments. This is for our own good to spend time with the Lord. The dishes will stay dirty in the sink, the laundry will be piled up, and your work will still be waiting for you, but I know that I need his peace NOW and the only way I'm going to get it is if I let him give it to me. Make a commitment to the Lord and yourself that you will spend a day of rest in him and with him today and every day, not just Sunday, but dedicate that day to the Lord as we all need a day of rest. I'm ready to be blessed. Are you?
