A Spring Card for You

Hello there my friends! Today I decided to just create something for fun without a challenge or obligation behind it. I don't know when the last time I created for fun was and isn't that what this is supposed to be all about? Creating for fun and sending out what you make to bless others. I needed to do that today. I wanted to make a fun spring card filled with colorful flowers on this gloomy day in California with 30 mph winds. My home is quiet and peaceful and Bella is taking her nap. Despite the fact that I have so much to do today, I am going to take this time to re-energize. My sink full of dishes will still be there later today, as will my other obligations. I need to make something that I want to really make and I don't even know where it's going, but that's okay. It will let me know.

When I was "married," every time we bought a house, I lived in the house for at least 6 months and let it speak to me as I got to know my home better. It tells you what it needs. I firmly believe that and in that belief, I've always had beautiful homes all over the US. I love my home now. It's all me, down to every little detail. When we bought the homes, I saw the potential in every single one of them and knew it was the house for my family the second I drove into the driveway stating the simple words, "This is it." And it always was. The one house I didn't pick ended up being a disaster in every way possible from financially to Western Diamondback rattlesnakes crawling into the house through the outside vents. I call it the Rattlesnake Ranch and living there was one of the worst 1-1/2 years of my life in more ways than one. I never connected with that building.

I knew the second that I walked into my current home that it was mine and I am so happy here. My home is my peaceful sanctuary and I am not afraid here. I do plan on sharing the Home Series that I wanted to share with you last year, but after careful thought, I don't just let anybody into my home, so I'm going to make the series closed to those who sign up. As women, a piece of our heart goes into our home and I don't just give my heart to anybody anymore. I guard my heart, I guard my home, and I guard who I allow into my life.

When creating, there's something about being able to pick out all of your colors and products that you want to use to really let your creativity shine through. It's relaxing. It's good for the soul. It's cheaper than therapy. It makes me happy. And it will also make somebody else happy. I'm going to send this card to Rose. I've known her since I was 15 and that's a very long time.

I've been wanting to really break out some of My Favorite Things products. There are so many beautiful and unique stamp sets, papers, inks, and of course, their Die-Namics, which are a staple in my craft room. They are never put away and neatly organized next to my Vagabond in pretty baskets. I have a great organization system for them. That's pretty much the only thing I have a good system for right now in this craft room. No video today. I am just creating.

I am making a little scene card filled with color (12 in total) with some 2 and 3-step stamping using the Sketched Blooms stamp set. It's pure stamping. I'm just going to start creating without planning or thinking and see where it takes me.

I hope you come along with me for today's journey into fun creativity.

I made a super fun envelope by debossing the word "amazing" into it and die-cut the inside sentiment from Razzle Berry card stock, stamped with with its coordinating ink using  the Sweater Stitch background stamp for texture since I did keep the inside pretty simple and did a little stamp surgery/masking too. I colored the die-cut with my Clear Wink of Stella pen.

The beauty of the Sketched Blooms stamp set is that the stamps are not meant to match up with each other and there are no die-cuts for it either. You just stamp and get an organic water-color type of look.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by to visit me today. Make today count. Don't forget to take some uninterrupted time for yourself every now and then and just create, drag out your crafty toys, make a mess and have fun. Your imagination. Your creativity. And then your giant mess to clean up! See you soon!

My Favorite Things stamps also just started their February countdown today and as usual, it's going to be outstanding. Just when I think they can't get any better, they always manage a stellar release, month after month. Go and check out their blog! So far, there are 3 new colors, which I think that will mean over 70 colors, and a few new patterned paper packs.
