Good morning my friends. I was so excited to hear about the Skipping Stone Designs Coffee Lovers Blog Hop this month using the Coffee Lover's Volume 1 stamp set. I am a serious, big time, addicted to coffee lover. I think the Starbucks app is the best thing since sliced bread. I purchase the 36-pack of Frap's at Costco. I have at a minimum of Starbucks K-Cups in all flavors, and for good measure, a nice supply of tropic loose leaf tea for those chilly evenings that will be arriving in California in about another 4 weeks. I have their coffee mugs for home and their travel mugs for the car. I love their loose leaf tea brewing system. It's fabulous with all of their delish and crazy-named out of this world flavors. It's heaven on Earth, let me tell ya!

We would love for you to hop along with us today! You can click on any of the design team members names below to see what they made for you. Also up for grabs is a stamp set from Skipping Stones Designs! Here is how you start the blog hop!

I made a very fun card today that should put Starbucks on your brain all day. There are several sentiments that you can use, such as "I don't have a problem with caffeine, I have a problem without it!" That's my favorite.I gathered up all of my coffee-related craft items and went to work.

The Copic marker colors I used are: C0, C2, E 42, E43, E44, G46, G94, YG63.

First, I pulled out my Antique Linen Tim Holtz Distress & Ranger Distress Collection by Core'Dinations ColorCore Card Stock, cut it to 4-1/4" square, dry embossed it with the Tim Holtz Alterations by Sizzix On the Go folder, sanded it to the core and then tore the right edge towards me. Next, I took Frayed Burlap Distress Ink by Tim Holtz with my round foam blending tool and distressed the edges. Be care when doing this technique. You've already broken down the paper by sanding and tearing. If it accidentally tears or gets bent, blame the distress. That's what I fully intend on doing. It's okay. I did try Antique Linen Distress Ink at first, but it was too matchy-matchy and boring for me. After the distressing, I curled up the tear using my fingers. So far with my color choices, so good, unlike the color I chose for my master bath, which was an epic fail and I'm usually very good about avoiding that type of situation. It turned out almost a neon Pistachio without the nuts. It looked so awful.

Next, I picked Stampin' Up! Garden Green card stock for my card base that was cut to an A2 left side folding card. I wanted an image representative of coffee spills or the ring stains that are always left on your furniture or in your car so I decided to use Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge for my "coffee splats, " along with Skipping Stone Designs Grunge stamp set, with Garden Green ink and stamped two of the images over my card stock base. Since Starbucks as a company is very Earth-friendly and green, and ironically enough, I've become the same way, I think that a natural element would look fabulous on this card. To make that happen, I've chosen Die Cuts With a View, The Corrugate Neutrals Stack. I used Papertrey Ink's Edgers #1 Collection to die-cut in the right side of my card and added another piece of Corrugate Neutrals Stack to adhere to the inside panel of my card so that you could also get a peek of that from the outside of the card. For my coffee cup, I colored it in using various colors of Copic markers and then stamped the lines from the Grunge stamp set in the middle section of the coffee cup by masking off that section to represent the brown coffee cup holder that you wrap around the cup. This would have been perfect to paper piece onto the coffee cup, as well as using the splats in the stamp set, but I only received the coffee cup image with a few sentiments and am working with limited stamps. The entire stamp set is pretty cool and I do wish I had it on hand. I used Lawn Fawn's Owen's ABCs to stamp the "S" onto Stampin' Up! Confetti Cream card stock, die-cut the image, ink distressed it with Frayed Burlap, added a piece of foam tap on the back and adhered it to the coffee cup. Under the coffee cup is cream burlap that I cut to size, frayed it out a bit and adhered to a panel of Confetti Cream card stock, which I then adhered to the embossed panel of the card.

For the outside sentiment, that was punched out with a Stampin' Up! Oval Scallop with the edges being distressed using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. The Garden Green panel behind it was punched out with a 2' x 1-3/8" Wide Oval Punch. I layered the two together and adhered to the cream burlap.

For the inside of my card, Stampin' Up! Confetti Cream card stock was a perfect match as it clearly has the appearance of having recycled materials in it. I stamped some more "splotches" inside using Crumb Cake ink. On the right side is where you can see the corrugated card stock. For my sentiment, I punched that out of a 1-1/4" punch and adhered it to a Garden Green card stock punched from the Label Bracket punch by Stampin' Up! I don't think I've done this much punching for years, but it turned out great!

To finish the card, I tied a piece of Linen Thread on the outside left of the card. I'm on a Linen Thread thing right now and it's going on every card.

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit me today and God bless you! I hope that you enjoyed my coffee card and that it provides you with a lot of inspiration and how well using natural elements play nicely in the sandbox together.

  1. I was thinking how cute this card was with the green and the burlap and then you showed a pic of the inside too – love it with the corrugated edge and more splashes.  TFS
