Celebrate! The Card Concept #36

Hello there my friends. I'm pre-posting several cards that I've made for the blog due two surgeries that I had to have. Not fun, but I have to do them.

I discovered this relatively new challenge called The Card Concept while doing some blog hopping a few weeks ago. It's very unique in that there's a bevy of designers, all with different styles from clean and simple to Mixed Media. You make your card based off of a picture and a style that one of the designers make. It's a Canadian challenge and here is the picture of our inspiration.

I used the cupcakes and a clean and simple approach to make my card. I chose to use different colors, but did add a touch of New Leaf by Papertrey Ink in there. I first started out using a Stampin' Up! Blender Pen and did not like the results, so I then used my trusty Copic markers to complete the card. In retrospect, I really should have done some water-coloring, but I can't find anything right now and it's going to be that way for at least a few months, unfortunately.

I have a Stamper's Select White card stock base by Papertrey Ink with an Aqua Mist layer die-cut with My Favorite Things Blueprints 15 Die-Namics (I so can't live without them) and then die-cut another layer of White Linen Card Stock, also by Papertrey Ink, with My Favorite Things Blueprints 13 Die-Namics. It's a tight cut, but you can see the Aqua Mist layer. I love using my stitched Blueprints! I used my MISTI took to stamp my die-cut images from Papertrey Ink's Baker's Dozen and coordinating die-cuts using Dark Chocolate and Memento Rich Cocoa Ink so that I was able to use my color medium of choice.

There's a lot of layers on this card using 3M Foam Tape. I do wish that I had spread around my Pretty Pink Post sequins a bit more, but i had started out using the rule of 3s and then changed my mind mid-placement.

I used the June cupcake from Baker's Dozen since my birthday is in June and I have a lot of wonderful and exciting events happening with me and a new life planned out for myself in my birthday month; and according to my cousin and my wonderful family, my birthday will be a month long event – so, of course, I'm all about that, and can hardly wait. My cousin wrote in my 2014 Christmas card that 2015 was going to be MY YEAR, and she wasn't kidding! The best part? Money can't buy what I'm getting and it doesn't get any better than that. I am so content. There's one big heartache looming over me but that will be worked out in time. God has promised me that through His Word in Proverbs 22:6.

When you get upset or even mad at God, you can call Him out on His Word and He will reveal Himself to you. All  you have to do is ask.

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit me today and as always, make today count. I hope that you enjoyed my card.

Hugs and blessings to you!
