My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Club 215 (MFTWSC215), Clean & Simple Tuesday, Spring Tulips

CASTuesRotatingBanner

Good morning friends! I barely made the deadline with submitting this card, like by 16 minutes! This card is for my Clean and Simple Tuesday Series (I'm pushing the CAS but hey, it's my blog) and My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Club 216 (MFTWSC216). I finished my card last night but when you heat set vellum, it has a tendency to warp. I like vellum but it doesn't like me very much. I made sure the sentiment panel was dry and then put it under my iPhone for the night and put a sticky note on top of it saying, "Vellum sentiment under here." That way, I wouldn't flip out looking for it because I do that with everything else. My Favorite Things doesn't have a banner the size that I cut it. I used the Stitched (I'm so into stitching around edges right now) Fishtail Flag STAX. I just lined up my sentiment, flipped the vellum over and ran it through the Vagabond again. Voila! Customized banner to fit any sentiment.

I love Lisa Johnson's brand new Spring Tulips stamp set. This one is very fun to color too! Especially with all of the new yummy colors that My Favorite Things has introduced in the past 3 or so months – that's 18 brand new colors and they are all just luscious! I can tell that Spring Tulips is going to get some good use in my studio. The line art is fabulous and you also have solid stamps to use for even more options.

The sketch called for a right-sided border so I decided to use the Sun Ray Stencil and ink it up with In the Buff. Daffodil was too bright and I wanted something a bit more muted and this was the perfect color. I made my sun a bit darker and then just blended the rest out with my ink blending too. I was expecting a much more lighter color considering the name but it turned out great. I used a lot of Die-Namics and stencils on this card and did a lot of sponging too. My Sno Cone circle panel was sponged with the Cloudy Day Stencil inking it up with Sno Cone ink for some tone-on-tone. I die-cut the tulips and colored them in using Smooth White card stock.

  1. Do you have a link to R & R Vinyl for the die storage pockets you use?? I am currently using cd pockets but would like something clear and sturdy like these. Thanks!!

  2. Your card is lovely, Cindy. Wow, that sun was the perfect added touch. This is the first time visiting your blog. Your blog set-up and colors are really pretty and catching to the eye. Crafty Hugs!!
