Hi friends. I haven't blogged for over 2 weeks! I was really surprised to see that. I've been a tad busy as I will explain to you in my blog post that's really full of a lot of fun and some BLOG CANDY too! You don't want to miss out on this. All you have to do is to leave a comment here on my blog and on subscribe to my You Tube Channel, and might as well tell your friends while you're at it.

My sketch today comes from the fabulous Clean and Simple Stamping Blog (Fall to Layout 280). Cheri's card was very cool. I absolutely loved it and her take on the sketch. I say this every week but Natasha has such a knack for drawing sketches for us. I sure do hope that you join us for this week's sketch. We would all love to see your impression of the sketch.

I have, of course, a 35-minute video for you, but you get to meet Bella, a weird game for the blog candy, which will be closing on Friday at midnight PST, and we're making 2 cards with envelopes. I'm also very happy how my card turned out and I used a play on words. You will see what I mean when you watch the video. Just as I'm writing this post, I'm multitasking and was playing with Bella with my left hand and she bit me hard where I got stitches a few weeks ago. OUCH! That does remind me to ask my cousin to take Bella to the vet tomorrow for 3 shots that she needs. Me hobbling around is getting difficult.

I started to write this blog post yesterday on Tuesday, but my leg was really bothering me so I just called it a day and watched some HGTV. I'm at the point now where walking is all but impossible, driving is totally out, and while I was bringing my morning coffee down to my studio that has one 2 baby wide stairs, I'm wondering how I'm going to do this on crutches. I have a few travel cups so I think that will solve the problem. I am also worried about Bella getting underfoot when I'm on crutches. She's still a puppy and a little ball of fire. I call her "hell on paws," affectionally, of course. She will definitely be going to doggie daycare a few days a week to get all of that energy out and play with her friends.

My biggest task looming over my head is getting everything off of the floor to where it belongs and I can reach it. I'm just going to see how this all plays out and what my limitations are without cheating too much since I am going to follow doctor's orders this time around and stay off of the knee for 3 weeks. Considering where they are cutting, I don't have much of a choice. I just know this hurts like a dog 24/7 and I'm glad they fasttracked me to the OR table. This will be 50 TIMES I've been on an OR table since October 2011! I do know I'm getting mani-pedi before I go in on the 25th and if they get looking too bad before I can walk again, my cousin will be spending an afternoon with me at the spa. I also need to get the hair done too since it's been since I buried my daddy and that was on September 7, 2013. I have the popular ombre effect going on with my hair where it's darker on the top and very light at the bottom. My oldest son has asked me for years if I even knew what my "real" hair color was. I do now, all 5 inches of it. Since I am 50, I am doing very well in the gray hair department and it's not bothering me that my hair isn't done, so that's a good thing. To answer your question Mike, it's the same color as Mackenzie's before she started to do her hair and very close to Scott's hair color.

So, if any of you are in the Sacramento area on February 25, I will be at Sutter General and will be staying the night. My surgery isn't until 3:30 and I have to starve all day long. MD said it was about a 3-hour surgery so I should be out 6:30ish or so if everything is on time. I sure hope my oldest daughter, Mackenzie, finds the time to come and visit me. That would make me so very happy. I have one rule – I don't want to wake up and throw up; make that two rules, nor do I want to still be intubated when I do wake up. That would be horrid and I will need counseling for the rest of my life if that happened.

I'm thinking of what I'm going to go with 3 weeks of nothing. I will be on crutches and my leg will be braced completely straight, as in no bending it at all since they are also cutting halfway behind my knee, like where you bend it, with the incision working it's way around to the front inside. MD said it will be about 7 inches long. Ugh. I'm also getting the usual scope so there's the 3 little incisions on the top of my knee. MD said that I will always have problems with that knee due to the intense damage and it will eventually get replaced, like the next time I have problems with it. What a pain, literally!

There's some good magazine calls going on right now so I will be doing that, but the majority of my time is going to be spent in God's Word. With me, this is usually God's way of telling me to slow down and listen and make more time for me – he has to take me out rather than my rushed prayers and only a few chapters of reading a day when my mind is elsewhere. That is not a very good thing to do to my Savior.

Just keep me in your prayers, a lot, and don't hesitate to put me on your prayer list at church. I'm very okay with that.

In our video, we will be making 2 different cards and decorating envelopes. I just love the way they turned out. As I was stamping the first card, the idea for the second card came to mind. I don't know about you, but that happens a lot to me, so I went with it in this video. I hope that you enjoy and I will see you back the next time around. I'm a bit picture heavy with this card since I couldn't make up my mind of what I wanted to put on the blog so I'm just uploading them all.

Off topic – I sure do wish I could get my spellcheck to work again on my blog. It's on and all seems to be well. Frustrating.

I don't want to ruin all of your fun, but video starts out with Bella and how adorable she is and then guessing which knee I'm having the operation on one week from yesterday. I have so much to get done and I'm going to have to kick it in order to get it done. I don't have a choice. I have made some great progress so far. You would figure that I would have been done by now but with the back and forth, back and forth, no. I have determined what's going to stay and what is going to go on a permanent basis so when I do go up to Chico, I just grab a box(es) of stamps that I want to use. Everything else is already up here, put away and organized.

Today's video is 35 minutes long. I am trying so super hard to cut down on the size and prepare as much as possible before I start filming and do everything I can possibly do, but I'm missing something. I still blame the teacher in me 🙂 We are making 2 cards with envelopes. The inside is up to you. As stated above, I am making a play on words that I think is really cute. I wanted something bright, fun and unusual for me. The Life's Music set was just released by Papertrey Ink in January and as I was putting it together a few weeks ago, I thought that it would make a pretty card using rainbow colors. I was never good, and still am not good, about getting my Think Big Favorites collection together and these two happened to be sitting on the table and an idea was born. And….I'm pretty sure I just mentioned the above twice since I'm writing this post in 2 days with a sleep in between.

Good bless you and have a great day. Make it count and bless somebody else with kindness.

Photobucket Experiment with color, soft pastels, distress ink since the stamps have a distressed look to them. There's a world of opportunities for this card.

Photobucket Jazz up the sketch a bit or use a totally different sketch altogether.

Photobucket Use the large background music stamp in various ways or make it the focal point of your card by using the ombre technique as I did on the envelope.

  1. I am guessing your right knee. I too have had both my knees scraped. The right knee twice. Unfortunately if it acts up again, my right knee, knee replacement is next, ugh! So definitely keep me posted on how you are doing.
Thanks for the video, Bella is a cutie! Thanks for sharing your cards too!

  2. Hi Cindy! Praying that everything goes well with your knee….I'd say right to….it does look swollen.  Hope that the pain isn't too bad!  Glad that they can do something about it and quickly!

    Have a beautiful day!
