ODBDSLC145, Take Time to Pray

Hi friends. It's been a long time since I stamped a card and this one took 4 days. I hate that as I lose my train of thought and here are the results. Maybe I'll just sit down one day and actually make something from start to finish. The release cards for Inspired by Stamping were done weeks ago so I've had the time, I just don't know where it went. I mean I do, like doctors and chemotherapy and, and, and…. It's also very counterproductive to work in a space where it looks like a bomb went off. It's scary, seriously. When I was working on my release projects, I just sort of left everything out and what I needed to use with it out as well. I have a path in and out, but around to the other side, no. I guess some cleaning is in order.

Sooooo, I decided to play along in the sketch challenge over at Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge 145 (ODBDSLC145), even though the brand new March release is to my left on the floor and their storage is up a foot or two. I was just hooked on making a card that had to do with time as I've been itching to use the Time stamp set with the Bo Bunny Timepiece Collection. It just seemed to be the perfect match and time is something I've been thinking about lately. Time is taken for granted so much and I've decided that there are two things that I am going to really do to use the bulk of my time; that is spending more time with the Lord and helping others. It's good productive time. Of course, you have to have the balance of taking care of yourself time too but I've found out lately that while you're helping others, lifting them up, and kind deeds for others, it's very good for the soul. I have my alone time with the Lord and use the gift he has given me as another way to encourage others too. I never expect anything back as I believe that's wrong, but it's amazing how grateful people are when you show them that you love them and they are capable of loving you back and choose to. In return, I feel great, and it nurtures me and helps to heal my soul in very small, yet significant, unexpected ways that I am not accustomed to, such as a hug, a sincere thank you, a heartfelt compliment, gratefulness, tears of joy, and the list goes on, basic human compassion, all of which are entirely new to me. It beats being purposely disrespected, accusations, neglected and ignored (unless I was to blame and believe me, everything was my fault), sarcasm, talked down to being the only feedback I received, and taken advantage of, which is how I used to live. I used to spend the majority of my time talking, begging, raising my voice, etc., my husband into loving me, like over half of my life, and to do what's right by me and the kids, which never materialized by his choice. That is very sad, which really isn't even the right word to describe it. Some people are just incapable of love.

I ended up with this masculine card of sorts. You know when it takes me days to do something, it just doesn't work out. I haven't done a video in ages either. Maybe next week. Sound good? I do like the red I incorporated with this card since I needed to bring forth the color of the base of my card and there's a lot of ink distressing. Imagine using another color than red, which would be very fun and change the look of the entire card. The clock was stamped onto white card stock using the rock 'n roll technique with black and brown dye inks then heat embossed with clear embossing powder to make it shine since I was doing the emboss resist technique too. When it takes me days to make a card, I try to write down what I need to finish the card off with a sticky note and I had one going with the full intent to dry emboss the banner using a folder, but I remembered that step after I had already adhered it to the card. Oops. The hardware is totally masculine and I had to use the Dark Chocolate pearls to soften it up just a tad. I did use Becca's Peg Bow Maker for a triple ribbon, but it just didn't look right on such a masculine card. I love the bow maker and it's a must have.

The Our Daily Bread Designs March 2013 release is very cool and focuses on cooking and food, with a pretty pussy willow. There's one stamp set about a recipe for a good marriage but since I'm not married or really into that, I passed on that one. There's some places I don't go and that's one of them.

It would be a shame if I didn't share with you Grace Nywening's shabby chic home decor project that I must do. I was in awe when I saw this and I am so CASEing this one and am giving it away to a young couple that I know who is getting married as a wedding gift, so I'm probably going to have to get that one stamp set above that I mentioned. Since they truly love each other, are committed to each other, and God is at the center of their marriage, it will work. I've known the bride-to-be since she was a young schoolgirl. Ally is such a beautiful young woman on the inside and out. She has a wonderful father whom I have such great respect for and he loves his wife as Christ loved the church. It doesn't get any better than that!

Thank you for stopping by today to visit me and God bless you.
